Artist Statement/Bio:
Sammy is honored to be a part of Give A Shirt this year and always loves creating designs alongside her family members, Conrad Richards, Stella Conrad, and Ruby Drexler. Sammy understands the importance of being connected with ancestral, innately human experiences, including birth and death. Sammy serves as a doula in the Colorado Springs area, and after her own wonderful home birth experience, knows that we cannot experience the good and the magic, without honoring the pain and the dark.
The traditionally used yogic phrase, "No Mud, No Lotus" honors exactly that. The beautiful lotus flower only grows in swampy mud. You cannot have the good without the bad.
