Artist Statement:
Add Empathy. Empathy. The ability to understand and share the feelings of another. To truly connect and engage. To help others feel seen and be heard. When we actively listen and simply acknowledge another’s presence, it helps us all be a bit more human. Empa+hy is the second in a series where I take simple human expressions and attempt to express them iconically for emphasis. The first in the series was EquALLity (Equity. Above All.), which highlighted the nuanced difference between Equity and Equality.
